Hi.

Welcome to Bumblemom. As my name suggestions, I’m bumbling along as best I can as I navigate a new culture, kids, and style.

Grocery Haul #8

Grocery Haul #8

I know I just posted Grocery Haul #7, but I feel like that reflected what was available in the beginning of the summer - in December when I originally put that post together - whereas this shows produce that is currently in the stores. The amazing berries of December and January are on their way out while rock-fruit is on the way in.

  1. Rangitikei butterflied whole chicken - 1.1kg - $10.99

  2. Caesar Dressing 250mL - $5.99

  3. Pizza bases - 4 count - $3.49

  4. Tasmanian salmon fillets - .762 kg @ $31.99/kg - $24.38

  5. Pepperoni salami stick - 250g - $6.99

  6. Instant oatmeal - 10 count - $4.49

  7. Romaine lettuce - $3.99

  8. Sweet corn - 5 for $4 - $4.00

  9. Watermelon - $7.99

  10. Afghan cookies - 6 count - $2.49

  11. Red plums - .471kg @ $5.99/kg - $2.82

  12. Free range eggs - 1 dzn - $6.99

  13. Sweet Tango Apples - .666kg @ $3.99/kg - $2.66

  14. Sea Salt - 500g - $4.20

  15. Green grapes - .841kg @$6.99/kg - $5.88

  16. The Collective Boysenberry yogurt - 900g - $8.19

  17. Hellers Free Farmed Shaved Ham - approx 200g - $4.51

  18. Farmland Beef Pastrami - approx 200g - $7.27

  19. Organic Black Beans - $1.99

  20. Organic Chickpeas - $1.99

  21. Grolsch Beer - 12 pack - $19.99

Fun fact: Beer and wine are readily available in the grocery stores in New Zealand. For hard liquor and more boutique wines, there are a ton of speciality shops to visit. I have not seen a big difference in price between the grocery store and speciality shops.

  22. Freya’s German Sourdough Bread - $3.49

  23. Karajoz coffee - 200g - $7.49

  24. Rolling Meadow Pizza Cheese Blend - 500g - 7.99

  25. Greet card - $4.99

  26. Airborne Honey Manuka/Wildflower blend - 500g - $8.99

Friendly reminder that all of these prices are in New Zealand dollars. The current exchange rate is NZ$1 = US63¢, so the US equivalent is just less than 2/3 the price listed. Also, a kilogram (“kg”) is equivalent to 2.2 pounds. So the red plums, which are .471kg @ $5.99/kg for a total of NZ$2.82, is 1.083 pounds of plums for a cost of US$1.78.
