Hi.

Welcome to Bumblemom. As my name suggestions, I’m bumbling along as best I can as I navigate a new culture, kids, and style.

My next find off of New Zealand Made Products was The Herb Farm, also based in Palmerston North. Side note - I’ve driven through Palmerston North once and kept on driving. It seemed like an uninspiring mid-sized town on the highway. Now after finding Tex-As Salsa and The Herb Farm, I’m inclined to stop and check it out next time I’m there!

Behind The Herb Farm is the Kirkland family who are all about natural ingredients and sustainability. Most of the ingredients in their products are grown on their farm in Manawatu, and everything is made on site. And they have a huge product offering - everything from moisturisers, serums, shampoo, and deodorant. This list is extensive, but the website is well designed so you can search by product type or skin concern.

I purchased two items, the hydrating overnight face mask (for me) and the repairing rosehip oil (for my daughter after her incident that took us to Starship children’s hospital.)

The overnight face mask is unbelievable. I completely understand why it is a 2019 Beauty and Wellness Award winner. It’s key ingredients are borealine expert, peony extract, and evening primrose oil, and my skin was the softest it has felt in ages after one night with this cream. I’m a convert.

The rosehip oil is tough to report on quite yet. It is not a miracle cure that instantly improved my daughter’s scars. I’m not sure anything could do that. However, we’ve added this oil into our routine, and one bit benefit it has is that the bottle is so lovely and so adult that my five year old asks to use it because she feels very grown up. Since it helps lessen the battle to moisturize her scars, I consider it a win.

I’d absolutely recommend checking out The Herb Farm’s shop. They offer free shipping on orders over NZ$29, which is an awesome bonus and removes any excuse to place an order.
