Brand Focus: Icing on the Cake
We just had a joint birthday party for the kids, and I have always prided myself on finding delicious, beautiful cakes that go along with party themes. For Meadow’s actual birthday in April, I had a complete flop with one bakery, so I set out to find the absolute best cakes for the big party. After polling other moms and doing a test run with cupcakes, I settled on Icing on the Cake in Herne Bay.
First, they were easy to work with and timely with communications. I was able to send them some inspiration photos and talk through the design I wanted for each of the kids’ themes. They responded with some suggestions to make the cakes look their best, and then I say back and let them run with it. On the day of the party, I swooped in on my way to the venue, and they had my cakes and mini cupcakes ready to go. They helped me take everything out to my car and did it all with a smile.
Secondly, their cakes are delicious, moist, and decadent. R wanted chocolate for his Ninjago themed cake, and M, in true 4 year old girl fashion, wanted strawberry for her butterfly cake so it would be as pink as possible. I chose lemon for the mini-cupcakes, and they were winners as well.
Finally, the cakes were BEAUTIFUL. I think my favorite was the butterfly cake with all of the hand-painted grass and 3D butterflies. Icing on the Cake incorporated more legos and butterflies into the mini-cupcakes as well, so everything was tied together.
Which one is your favorite?
The cakes weren’t cheap at NZ$235 (about US$160) but they were less than I used to spend on cakes in the United States. And let me tell you, they were worth it! Every bite was delicious and they were perfectly created. If you’re in need of a fabulous cake, this place is top notch.
